In the publication Co-Chair of the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France and editor of Les Nouvelles d’Armenie Toranyan based on the latest revelations, the site WikiLeaks, exposed and condemned the double-faced policy of French President Nicolas Sarkozy on one of the most important current problems of the Armenian community – a bill to impose penalties for the denial Genocide.
Meanwhile, from WikiLeaks’s declassified diplomatic sources is revealed that Mr Sarkozy, which gave the Armenian community during the election campaign in 2007 generous pledges of support for the ratification of this bill, one month after his election, through his visit Ankara adviser assured to the Turkish authorities that he would do everything to prevent the ratification of the this bill by the Senate.
This revelation has caused a strong reaction of the Armenian community. In addition to the open letter of Ara Toranyan, a protest was made, and the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France, condemned the two-faced policy of the French authorities.
In the same publication Ara Toranyan turned to another, earlier exposure WikiLeaks, which referred to Karabakh. According to this information, a senior official of the French Foreign Minister of Defense admitted that “the presence of a large Armenian community in France prevents the advancement of certain proposals, which could contribute to the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.”
“However, the question arises: what kind of peace proposal are by the French Foreign Ministry, which can cause a protest of French of Armenian origin?” – Highlights Toranyan in an open letter published in Le Monde.
“Existed in the past, the tradition of throwing the Armenians in favor of pan-Turkism continues in our country today” – says a journalist in his open letter.
