‘The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs’

Geoffrey Zakarian took the prize on Sunday’s Dec. 18 “The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs” finale, beating out Elizabeth Falkner.

Noted chefs Bobby Flay and Masaharu Morimoto joined Michael Symon and Judy Joo as judges, while the contestants competed to continue on to “Iron Chef America.”

Zakarian, a New York chef who had competed in “Iron Chef: America” and served as a judge on “Chopped,” won the Heat and Meat challenge and the Hamptons Beach Cookout. Meanwhile, Falkner, who is based in San Francisco, won the Movie Theater challenge and the Food Auction challenge. Her experience as the executive pastry chef of Citizen Cake and the executive chef at Orson gave her an edge… though clearly not quite the edge Zakarian’s Hello Kitty bandages gave him.
